Before you book

Straight answers

Is the consultation really free?

Yes, and there is no obligation to book anything afterwards. If a treatment is not right for you, you will be told so. That is the point of it.

What deposit do I pay?

A deposit secures the appointment and comes off the price on the day. If you move or cancel with more than 48 hours notice it is refunded, or carried over to your new appointment. Inside 48 hours it is kept, unless the slot gets filled, in which case it is refunded. The amount is confirmed when you book.

How far in advance should I book before an event?

Facials peak around ten days after, so book roughly a week and a half before. Brow lamination needs two weeks to settle. Waxing and threading want a week. Lashes three days. Henna two days, because the colour keeps deepening. Never try anything new inside four weeks of a wedding.

Will I see the same person every time?

Always. Every treatment is carried out by Noureen. There is no team, no rota and no being passed to whoever is free.

Do you do injectable treatments?

Injectable treatments begin with a free face-to-face consultation. Where a prescription is required it is issued by a qualified prescriber before anything is carried out. They are not sold from a price list and a consultation does not commit you to treatment.

Can you come to me?

Yes. Home visits carry a travel charge of £10 within G53, £15 over two miles and £20 over five miles.

Put in the wedding date. You will get every appointment in the right order, including the ones that have to stop. Nothing new goes near your face inside four weeks of the day, and this schedule respects that.

A large clinic can offer you a team. It cannot offer you the same practitioner on every visit, someone who remembers how your skin reacted last time and adjusts before you have to ask. That continuity is the whole reason Shades stays a one-room studio.

Clients travel from across Southside Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire. Home visits are available with a travel charge.

Who this is not for

Skin treatments are not carried out during pregnancy or breastfeeding, on active infection or broken skin, on anyone taking oral isotretinoin within the last six months, or where there is a history of keloid scarring. Some treatments are unsuitable alongside certain medications or medical conditions. All of this is checked at consultation, and being told no is a normal outcome.

Injectable treatments

Injectable treatments for lines, wrinkles and facial contouring are not sold from a price list. They begin with a free face-to-face consultation where Noureen assesses your skin and discusses what is and is not suitable.

Where a treatment requires a prescription, it is prescribed by a qualified prescriber before anything is carried out. A consultation does not commit you to treatment and may conclude that treatment is not appropriate for you.

What is collected

Your name and contact details, your appointment history, and the health information you give at consultation or patch test, such as medications, allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy and previous treatments.

Why it is held

To carry out treatment safely, to keep the treatment records our insurer requires, and to contact you about your appointments. Health information is handled on the basis of Article 9(2)(h) of the UK GDPR, which covers the provision of treatment and the management of a treatment service.

Who else sees it

Our booking provider, which stores appointments on our behalf. Where a treatment requires a prescription, the qualified prescriber involved in your care. Nobody else.

How long it is kept

Consultation and treatment records are kept for as long as our insurer requires. Contact details are removed on request once no records need to be retained.

This website

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. If you are not happy with the answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk.
